Yasuni Rainforest Campaign

It is threatened by massive new oil projects, illegal hunting and logging , new roads and settlers

Yasuní Rainforest is home to the indigenous Waorani, legendary warriors and hunter-gatherers, as well the uncontacted tribes the Taromenane and Tagaeri. Save America's Forests is a leader in an international campaign to save this unique ecosystem and the indigenous peoples who live there. See picture galleries of rare and endangered species, read about our work with the Waorani, with Jane Goodall and E.O. Wilson and other scientists and groups, read our new scientific papers on the ecology and history of Yasuní, see up-to-date maps, and much more.

COMING SOON
Save America's Forests Will Soon Be Finishing Two New Important Scientific Papers To Be Published in Peer-Reviewed Scientific Journals

FIRST - We will document all the hydroelectric projects in the Western Amazon, which will reveal the extent to which the last free flowing rivers in the Amazon will be dammed and damaged.

SECOND - We will publish a comprehensive new COMBINED THREAT ASSESSMENT for the ENTIRE WESTERN AMAZON. All existing, new, and planned roads, logging concessions, dams, mining, oil and gas, coca and oil palm plantations - all the major threats - will be combined into one massive projection for the Western Amazon, the most biodiverse region on Earth. These projects will be GIS mapped in relation to pristine areas, indigenous territories, and parks and other protected areas. This giant study will be the new reference for Western Amazon. For those involved in protecting the environment and indigenous peopels, this report will become a essential tool in future planning and campaigns.
