Sweden


There are no major virgin forest areas left in Sweden. Additionally, they use the term virgin forest for describing areas with a particularly law degree of anthropogenic impact. These forests usually have a plentiful supply of dead trees in various stages of decay . Other characteristic is the stratification of tree growth. Although forest fires are extremely common, surviving trees can easily recolonise the area.
